Overview
The MORS Systems Thinking Community of Practice is founded to provide a forum for the discussion of issues
relating to Public, Private, Government and Industry participation in the field of operations research in
the
national security space. The CoP recognizes that government agencies are engaged in systems thinking
analysis
for operations research of national security issues required to fulfill their vital roles.
Many of the
current
challenges that we are facing need to be addressed from a systems lens. Operations, infrastructure, systems,
human capital, cyber, and integration architecture are the core competencies of this CoP. They form a
foundational basis to which every ecosystem operates within the defense segment. This methodology is a core
competency for the MORS constituency and the health of this segment of the DIB needs to be a primary
objective.
The Systems Thinking CoP will:
- Meet virtually quarterly for a session on an issue concerning systems thinking in national security
analysis. Some of the topics that might be covered in these sessions are:
-
Implementing a System of Systems / Systems Thinking Model Concept
-
Smart Systems practices for national security analysis companies
-
Community leadership will keep notes of meetings and share the insights, issues, and recommendations
with MORS leadership. These will be used to inform MORS Sponsors and Partners as to policies and
initiatives that might be implemented to enhance the performance and standing of the DIB in regard to
national security analysis.
-
The Community will hold an in-person meeting at the annual MORS Symposium. The CoP does not directly
align with any one Symposium Working Group so this meeting will be stand alone. However, it can
complement existing CoPs.
