Phalanx presents a cross-section of important current research, meetings reports, MORS news and informative oral histories. It is also an excellent advertising venue, reaching thousands of professionals in the DoD and DHS national security analytic communities. Phalanx is free for members and as low as $70 for non-members.

Phalanx includes articles on Professional topics and provides the chance for our members to share their ideas and experiences.  Guidelines for submissions include:

  • Articles (up to 3000 words) on professional techniques and processes that have been used in practice.
  • Commentary, on past articles in the magazine or on professional issues important to our members.
  • Updates on our members' professional activities.

Dear Phalanx Readers,

The evolving nature of the COVID-19 pandemic necessitates that MORS continuously reviews its business practices, content delivery platforms and formats, and membership services.  We seek to provide the highest possible quality without compromising on the most current recommendations provided by the medical community to keep our staff and membership safe.

In March 2020, MORS leadership made the decision to publish only an online issue of Phalanx.  We did so, in part, because of the uncertain risk in the virus being transmitted via the postal system and our members were not following their usual work patterns and schedules. 

MORS is pleased to announce that it will return to providing a print and electronic version of Phalanx beginning in March 2021.

MORS understands that its membership enjoys the printed version of Phalanx.  We also know that our membership values the benefits of easily and rapidly accessing past and current issues of Phalanx.  To meet this member service, MORS continues to explore information systems to provide a capable digital library for storing, organizing, searching, and retrieving the Society’s intellectual material.  This library will likely contain digital objects that include text (e.g. Phalanx articles and books), still images (e.g. Symposium and special meeting photos), audio recordings (e.g. MORS Talks), social media posts, and other originally produced digital content.

MORS’ stated mission “To enhance the quality of analysis that informs national and homeland security decisions” remains unchanged and Phalanx plays a key role in realizing this goal.  We thank you for your continued readership and contributions to the magazine!
