Overview
The core aim of the Australian Defence Community of Practice (CoP) is to grow engagement across those working on Australian Defence OR problems. This in term should aid in the growth of both the capacity of and capabilities of the Ecosystem. The Community will provide an opportunity to collectively share knowledge and experience to position Australian Defence OR capability to support Defence’s current and future needs, including:
- Provide a forum for communication and collaborating on Australian related issues within the MORS community.
- Meet during the annual MORS Symposium where possible, and regularly throughout the year via in person and virtual presentations at varying levels of classification to:
- Identify and develop relevant approaches across the wide range of tools and techniques of relevance to Australia’s OR needs.
- Discuss emerging and completed projects of significance.
- Share Insights, lessons learned, and joint sessions with other MORS Composite Groups and Working Groups such as wargaming, and social science methods and applications.
- Document updates, outcomes, presentations, and knowledge to enable broader information sharing.
- Report regularly to the MORS Leadership (CoP Chair) on the status of the Community.
- Share significant upcoming OR events such as MORS Special Meetings, the Australian Defence OR Symposium, ADSTAR and relevant Defence briefings.
- Maintain an interface with the broader OR activities which are related to Australia to facilitate quick response collaboration (e.g. peer reviews, a directory of key experts etc.).
- Maintain a web site identifying and summarizing the Southern Cross related OR capabilities and activities within the MORS Community.
All OR practitioners (industry, academia and Government) from senior managers to junior employees will be welcome to join the Community. Community members are to have a desire and willingness to work together to contribute to Australia’s national security through Defence OR. The Australian Defence OR Community of Practice will a mechanism that provides the solutions to the problems identified by Defence. Close engagement with Defence problems and Defence OR experts will be critical.
