Director, ISR Operations, US Air Force
Brig. Gen. Jonathan C. Rice, IV is the Director, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Operations, Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for ISR and Cyber Effects Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, the Pentagon, Arlington, Virginia. He is responsible for policy, guidance and oversight for the global Air Force ISR enterprise. Brig. Gen. Rice leads the development of future Air Force ISR concepts and capabilities, directs Air Force ISR Chief Information Office activities and oversees execution of the $50 billion Air Force ISR portfolio.
A Distinguished Graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Brig. Gen. Rice commanded the 363d ISR Wing, the 707th ISR Group at the National Security Agency, and the 314th Training Squadron at the Defense Language Institute. He served as Senior Intelligence Officer for four air wings in Europe, in the Pacific and while deployed for Operation Iraqi Freedom. The general served as the Director of ISR, Seventh Air Force (Air Forces Korea) and in positions at U.S. Southern Command, Joint Special Operations Command, Air Force Special Operations Command and the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He served in Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Summit Cap, in the Czech Republic, Joint Task Force Liberia and various joint special operations missions. Brig. Gen. Rice holds graduate degrees from the Harvard Kennedy School of Government, The George Washington University, Air University and U.S. Army War College.
Prior to his current assignment, Brig. Gen. Rice served as the Vice Director of Intelligence and Information for North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command, both headquartered at Peterson Space Force Base, Colorado.
