About the Military Operations Research Society Symposium

MORS Symposia are classified, normally three days in duration, and represent all military services (uniformed and civilian), government agencies, contractors and academic institutions. The meeting typically includes concurrent special and working group sessions and tutorials. Special sessions consist of formally prepared papers or panels centered on a theme approved by the Board of Directors. Thirty-three working groups are provided for informal discussion and debate on specific issues, methods and applications of operations research. Tutorials expose participants to new concepts, methods and techniques in operations research.

POSTER SESSIONS - In an effort to revitalize the Poster Session at the 77th MORS Symposium, we are encouraging organizations to submit posters to highlight OR-related work in their organizations. The number one question many face when mentoring young analysts is "What else is out there in OR"? As you know, the answer is - a tremendous amount!

This year at Leavenworth, we'd like to try something new - host a government organizational showcase at the Tuesday night mixer. The workload is modest, but the potential returns are huge - educating our young analysts about the world of MORS! Simply add a few slides to your mission brief, submit a poster request to the 77th MORSS link at www.mors.org, and we will take care of the rest.

There is also an opportunity for contractors to present a poster to be displayed during the Symposium. I want to stress that this is not an opportunity to market your organization- the intent is to display, share and highlight OR-related work.

The MORS Office will provide the poster boards this year so all you have to do is provide the slides and content and build your poster in Fort Leavenworth - we are trying alleviate the burden of shipping or carrying the posters which may have discouraged participation in the past.

If interested or if you have any questions, please contact the Demos/Posters coordinator, Greg Hutto at Gregory.Hutto@EGLIN.AF.MIL
