Human Behavior & Performance Focus Session
Message from the President on Human Behavior and Performance
Our big event every year is our annual symposium and next year it will be held from 22-24 June 2010 at the Marine Corps Combat Development Command in Quantico, VA. This is where we have over 1000 scientists, operators, engineers and analysts meet to present their completed work, discuss work-in-progress, or discuss ideas for work in over 30 different working groups. This year we have taken a detailed look at our working group structure to ensure it is in line with current national security objectives. As the MORS President, I approved the splitting the “Warfighting Performance and Social Sciences” working group into two groups: the Social Sciences Methods and Applications Working Group and, new this year, the Human Behavior and Performance Focus Session.
With this new Human Behavior and Performance Focus Session, I request the following:
NOW –
We are drafting the prospectuses for the 78th MORSS this week and next week.
- Please review the draft prospectus here and let me know if you have any recommendations
- I am looking for co-chairs and advisors. If you would like to understand the responsibilities, please see the “How to Lead a Successful Working Group” tutorial on the MORS web-site (http://www.mors.org/members/tutorials.aspx). Basically, you help solicit papers for presentation, review those submitted to select papers, and attend the sessions participating in the discussions at the 78th MORSS.
- If you are interested in assisting with this Focus Session, please let me know by Wednesday, October 8th.
NOVEMBER THROUGH FEBRUARY –
Our Announcement and Call for Presentations will be released in late October / early November. Please encourage folks to submit presentations to this Focus Session.
- If you’d like to be reminded when the Announcement and Call for Presentations is released, just let me know.
22-24 June 2010 –
The actual 78th MORS Symposium.
- Please encourage folks to attend the symposium to present and / or participate in the discussions.
- Registration on the MORS web-site will be available after the first of the year.
- If you’d like to be reminded when registration is available, just let me know.
Thank you for considering all of these requests. I’m excited for this new Human Behavior and Performance Focus Session. Please join me in making this Focus Session a success!
If you have any questions, please let me know.
