Submission to PHALANXDisclosure Forms
PHALANX
is
the bulletin of the Military Operations Research Society (MORS). It is published
quarterly in cooperation with the Military Applications Society (MAS) of the
Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS). We
are interested in articles, general news, meeting reports, analytic issues and
other happenings in the field of military operations research. General
Submission Guidelines. Authors
should submit their manuscripts directly to the MORS office at 1703 N. Beauregard St, STE 450, Alexandria, VA 22311. Submission packages should include the following:
Submission Deadlines
Every
effort will be made to get your article into the next issue of PHALANX
after submission. Please be aware
those articles with time sensitivity will sometimes be placed ahead of other
articles in the publication process due to relevance and timeliness. Length
of Submissions. Articles
in PHALANX are normally limited to a maximum of three to four pages.
Straight text appears at the rate of 900-1100 words per printed page. Space for
illustrations should be judged accordingly. Authors who want to submit longer
articles should consider writing a sequel to appear in an issue following the
publication of the first part. Figures,
Graphs, Charts and Electronic Photos.
Include a
camera-ready (laser printed) copy of all figures, graphs and charts used in your
submission. The figure must be of sufficient size so that after photo-reduction,
letters and numbers are legible. Do not use shading!
If you are submitting a digital author photo, please be sure to use a
high resolution (at least 300 DPI) or the photo will be grainy. Disclosure
Authorization Form.
Each article must
have a completed disclosure authorization form before it can be published in PHALANX.
You can find the disclosure forms on the MORS website (http://www.mors.org/publications/phalanx/subphalanx.html) Abbreviations
and Acronyms.
Abbreviations and
Acronyms (A&A) must be identified at their first appearance in the text.
Authors should remember there are some in the PHALANX
audience who do not instantly recall each of the thousands of abbreviations
and acronyms in daily use in military operations research.
We have also found that a specific acronym can mean different things
within different organizations (i.e. OR - operations research, operational
readiness). Footnotes.
PHALANX does
not use footnotes. Please take this into account when preparing a manuscript for
submission. Parenthetical material may be incorporated into a "Notes"
section at the end of the text, before an acknowledgment and references section.
Notes are designated by superscript letters at the end of a sentence. References. References should appear at the end of the paper and be listed in numerical order of appearance in the text. References are designated by superscript numerals at the end of a sentence. |
