Working Group 25 Charter
Test and Evaluation (T&E)

(Last Updated 15 September 2006)

Purpose: Application of OR techniques to T&E in support of the acquisition process, including an interchange of ideas and methodology to enhance the effectiveness, efficiency, and economy of testing.

Discussion: Operations research techniques have become increasingly important to the T&E community over the past few years with the increasing emphasis on quantitative evaluation of weapons systems effectiveness and suitability required by OSD, Congress, and the DSARC principles. The T&E WG is a forum for discussion of approaches to structuring complex T&E programs and analysis tools that are used to assess system performance in operationally meaningful terms. It has also provided a means for discussion and agreement upon procedures for conducting multi-service and joint service test and evaluation. The scope of the working group encompasses the multitude of test techniques such as modeling and simulation and open air range testing in DT&E as well as OT&E.
