Working Group 22 Charter
Analytic Support to Training
(Last Updated 23 August 2007)
Purpose: The purpose of the Analytic Support to Training Working Group is to provide analytic support and analysis at all levels from individual to collective joint, interagency, and multi-national training. WG-22 provides a forum for discussion of training issues, policies, and insights, and the challenges of integrating Service, joint, multi-national, and interagency exercises and collective and individual training. Additionally, we support the discussion of lessons learned data collection and processing, to enhance the capabilities of users to access and apply the lessons learned from a wide range of operations to exercises and training. The publication of Department of Defense Directive 1322.18, of 03 September 2004, Subject: Military Training provides policy and guidance for the training of DoD personnel and the DoD components that support the operational needs of the Combatant Commanders. Recognizing changed international environment and the need to effectively support force readiness for the Total Force, the DoD directive establishes a mission-driven training system. Guidance includes that all personnel and components train on their Mission Essential Tasks (METs) to established standards to provide the capabilities that support the Combatant Commanders and the Joint Operations Concepts across all phases of Joint Campaigns and throughout the spectrum of service, joint, interagency, intergovernmental, and multinational operations. The DoD Components are to ensure their individuals and organizations are trained to meet the specific operational requirements of the supported Combatant Commanders, as identified in Combatant Commander-approved Joint Mission Essential Task Lists (JMETLs), before deploying for operations and while deployed. Military Operations research and analysis is in a position to support and influence the development of new analysis methodologies and tools in support of mission-driven training. This working group seeks presentations on concepts, methodologies, tools, and lessons learned that examine the emerging issues in support of military training and Training Transformation in the 21st century.
