(Last Updated 12 July 2002)

PURPOSE: The purpose of the Nuclear, Biological, Chemical (NBC) Defense Working Group is to present and offer solutions to military problems related to NBC defense during military operations.

DISCUSSION: The Nuclear, Biological, and Chemical Defense Working Group is organized to investigate, educate, and promote the application of operations research to the problems associated with maintaining adequate NBC defense of the US Armed Forces. All aspects, to include doctrine, material, research, development, testing, evaluation and training are addressed.

The group investigates various analytical approaches to NBC related problems. Sensitivity analyses are emphasized to reveal the limits of application of solutions and identify critical parameters to be controlled or considered in contingency plans. These methodologies and presentations involve analyses to define the magnitude of problems under different input parameters, environmental modification, NBC survivability standards and NBC agent detection capabilities.

OTHER WORKING GROUPS: Working Group 02, Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Defense is a part of Composite Group A, Strategic and Defense. WG-2 participates in MORSS combined sessions and individual seminars with all working groups assigned to CG - A.
