Wargaming and Analysis
Northrop Grumman Heritage Conference Center
16-18 October 2007
MORS regrets that attendance at this workshop is restricted to US citizens only.
Dear Colleague:
The Military Operations Research Society has organized a workshop entitled "Wargaming and Analysis.” This Workshop will be held 16-18 October 2007 at the Northrop Grumman Heritage Conference Center, 4803 Stonecroft Blvd, Chantilly, VA 20151. There will be an optional Tutorial Session on Monday, 15 October, that potentially will address the following topics: Gaming and Analysis; Developing Goals and Objectives for Wargames; Spreadsheet Analysis for Wargames. The Tutorial is free to all those who attend the Workshop.
The Workshop has several goals. First, the Workshop will provide participants with an understanding of the current uses, capabilities, and limitations of wargaming. Secondly, the Workshop will identify and assess needed war game enhancements, i.e., those activities, data and information sources, metrics, rules, structure, and participants, that must be identified and/or addressed prior to the conduct of a successful game. Thirdly, the role and identification of appropriate analysis tools, to include modeling and simulation, in support of war games will be addressed. Finally, in the context of the 21st century security environment Workshop participants will be challenged to develop recommendations as to how wargaming and operations analysis may be better integrated to better serve the needs of national security decision makers.
The primary focus of the Workshop is to support the military analytical community’s ability to better employ both wargaming and analysis/operations research as means of supporting senior Department of Defense and military decision-makers. However, participation by analysts from other U.S. federal agencies, and civilian war game practitioners is encouraged and will enable opportunities for the mutual exchange of analytical approaches, techniques, tools, and data.
You are invited to apply to participate in this special meeting. Attendance will be limited by the space available. A specific number of slots will be reserved for issue leaders, working group chairs, and synthesis group members. Other participants will be selected using a combination of the criteria below:
