Executive Vice President

The Military Operations Research Society (MORS) is seeking a talented, creative individual with substantial senior management experience to fulfill the requirements of the position of Executive Vice President (EVP). The EVP must be a skilled leader and able to promote the interests and objectives of the Society.

The EVP manages the day-to-day activities of the Society. This includes interacting with members of the Society, supervising a full-time staff of four individuals, preparing budgets and financial reports and overseeing office automation (DBMS, computer network). He/she is responsible for developing, integrating and implementing marketing campaigns to achieve strategic and revenue objectives for membership, education, publications, professional services, and meetings/symposia offered by the Society.

Frequent travel is required with this position. The EVP frequently interacts with senior Department of Defense and Department of Homeland Security officials on Society activities that support military analysis. Examples of supporting activities include the annual symposium (full week with 1,000+ attendees), four or more smaller focused workshops/meetings and publications. The EVP is an official spokesperson for the Society at meetings with other societies and organizations. The EVP also negotiates legally binding contracts for the Society. The qualified candidate will have the skills to manage daily operations, supervise staff, develop ongoing Societal strategies, implement long range plans, speak on behalf of the organization, and act as the Society’s liaison to the Board of Directors, Sponsors, and Membership at large. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communications and listening skills, adaptability, attention to detail, and the desire to create and execute a vision for the future of the Society.

The position requires US citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance. Previous involvement with the Society and an advanced technical degree (e.g., Operations Research, engineering or one of the sciences) are not mandatory. Previous documented experience with a professional society or association management experience is a plus. He/she should be self-motivated, proactive, and have demonstrated an ability to work with military organizations, senior government officials and the public.
