(Updated October 2014)

Purpose: The purpose of the Analytic Support to Training and Education Working Group is to provide analytic support and analysis for training and professional military education at all levels from individual to collective for joint, interagency, and multinational operations.

Discussion: WG 20 provides a forum for discussion of training and education issues, policies, approaches, and insights, as well as the challenges of integrating service, joint, multinational, and interagency exercises, including collective and individual training and education. Additionally, we support the discussion of lessons learned from data collection and processing, to enhance the capabilities of users to access and apply the lessons learned from a wide range of operations to exercises and training. CJCSI 1800.01D and CJCSI 1805.01A provide policy and guidance on Officer and Enlisted professional military education while Department of Defense (DOD) Directive 1322.18, Subject: Military Training provides policy and guidance for the training of DOD personnel and the DOD components that support the operational needs of the Combatant Commanders. Recognizing the dynamic international environment and the need to effectively support force readiness for the Total Force, these policies establish a comprehensive mission-driven training and education system. Guidance includes the establishment of training capabilities based on DOD training architecture and an open, net-centric, interoperable standard that includes embedded, live, virtual and constructive training capabilities.  Integrated operations training directs  personnel and components train on their Mission Essential Tasks (METs), to established standards and measurement metrics, to provide the capabilities that support the Combatant Commanders and the Joint Operations Concepts across all phases of Joint Campaigns and the full range of integrated operations.   DOD Components are to ensure their individuals and organizations are trained and educated to meet the specific operational requirements of the supported Combatant Commanders, as identified in Combatant Commander-approved Joint Mission Essential Task Lists (JMETLs), before deploying for operations and while deployed. Military operations research and analysis is in a position to support and influence the development of new analysis methodologies and tools in support of integrated, mission-driven training and education. This working group seeks to assist in the development of analytical tools necessary to measure key performance parameters and key system attributes for training and education.  This working group seeks presentations on concepts, methodologies, metrics, tools, and lessons learned that examine the emerging issues in support of military training and professional military education for Training Transformation in the 21st century.
